Moods of Coorg

View from my room where I stayed in Madikeri - the place seemed warm and serene and in minutes we had the april showers, the very reason why coffee grows in Coorg. Check out the next photograph, the whole valley was wild with heavy rain and thunder lightning.

Shigmo Festival in GOA

Shigmo in Konkani is a festival celebrated in Goa, a state on the west coast of India. One of the prominent festivals of the Hindu community in Goa, and is the Marathi/Konkani name for the pan-Indian festival of Holi.

In recent years, the state government has been offering its support for public Shigmo parades, made up of traditional folk and street-dancers and elaborately-built floats depicting scenes from regional mythology and religious scenes.

Meanwhile, Shigmo festivals also continue in diverse rural parts of Goa, spanning over a fortnight, with different days earmarked for celebrations in diverse areas. This festival is celebrated around March each year, is linked to the lunar-based Hindu calendar.

Happy Diwali

Its Diwali time.. time for sweets, celebrations, fun, frolic and what not. The financial slowdown around the world will not slow down the Indians from celebrating this Diwali. SAP had their share of fun this year - we made our annual narkasur. With Anup being married - we had our doubts if we would end up making another Narkasur - but we did it and not just another Narkasur, we ended up raising sponsors and made up a life size king size Narki the sur. Well you get to see a coupla a pics down here.

All those reading in here - wish you a very happy diwali. A better diwali and larger celebrations lie ahead for me in the next diwali... till then make every day a Dee WAH Li. :) Cheers... !!

All the bricks of the wall...

All the bricks of the wall got together to make the Narkasur party happening.
