View from the Siridao Beach

As a Tourist visiting Goa, its unlikely that you will end up being on Siridao Beach, probably you ll not even know where it is. This coast actually forms the delta for river Zuari. What you see right ahead in this picture is the Port of Vasco Da Gama or you could officially call it Marmugao Port ie. Goa's only Port. To the right of the port is the Arabian Sea. I couldnt capture any of the true beauty of this place on my mobile cam.

Panjim City

As you enter Panjim City this is what you ll get to see. To your distant horizon are the water filled clouds disbursing their bits. Monsoons are coming to an end but we are seeing weird weather patterns - Thanks to Global Warming and nothing being done about it. I guess it will continue to rain for some more time...

Navratri Time in India...

Chariot at a Temple in Goa getting ready for the Nine day celebrations of Navratri which means 9 nights. These 9 days are full of celebrations in North, East, West and Central India but not much of it in the Southern parts of India. The Gujurati Community celebrates Navratri with loads of Dancing with handheld sticks known as Dandiya.

Catch of the Day

Fish - yes if you are at the shack. You ll find the boys at the shack walking up to you and offering you a tray loaded with the days special. You could choose from the red snapper, white snapper, shark or the kingfish or you could just send him away and drink away you beer.

Goan Shack

To the west Goa is lined by beautiful beaches. Some of them stretch a real distance while a few are in patches and coves. Being a tourist destination, seasonal shacks like the one above line up most of the coast. Its fun to spend the noon basking in the sun (which Indians dont do) or the evenings under the stars. You could order your wines, rums, lobsters, crabs or the catch of the day....

Its unlikely that if you are in Goa on a holiday and you will not visit a shack.....

INGOs Saturday Night Market GOA

Who is INGO? I dont know - well I have heard about this guy and I think I have seen him at the Saturday Night Market at Baga-Arpora. This is the best place to be during the tourist season in Goa. I would say very unusual and ultimate entertainment hub. You got great food, superb music, amazing crowd, tripper crowd, loads of fancy stuff to buy and loads and loads and loads more...If you are here in Goa - dont miss it :)

Palolem Beach Goa

To the south of Palolem Beach is this beautiful stretch of land which protrudes into the sea. On the other side of this stretch you ll find Rave Parties happening during the peak seasons starting Novemeber to January.

Coco Huts in Palolem Beach

The only place in India where you can find CoCo Huts is Palolem. These are elevated temporary structures for those wandering Hippies. Now they are hype and have aircons - which make them a place to stay when in Goa. I have tried them - they are fun to stay in.

Palolem Beach GOA

This is one of the finest beaches in Goa. Supposed to have notorious reputation of being a trippers paradise. A large number of Israeli Tourists would flock to this beach for its famous Trance parties and what not.. :)

India has had a history of religious men asking for alms by singing devotional songs from one house to another. Today we had a warkari from maharashtra singing in front of my house. I would say it is very unusual to find them in goa. Managed to capture him while if was there singing.

Fishing in Goa..

Traditional Fishing. Goa has many small villages dotting the river banks. For people from these villages, getting Fish for their Fish Curry Rice is not much of a shopping experience. Most of the men, young and old know how to fish for their bit in the nearby stream or the river. It is surprising to see the creativity that these people have when it comes to walking through the river and walking back with enough catch for a meal for 4 members. With modernisation threatening the tradition, there would be handful who can actually do this. If you are in Goa dont miss out venturing into the smaller villages by the river and experiencing fishing. Its fun.

That apart you can rest be assured your palates would be tantalised by wide variety of Sea life which usually come from Mechanised fishing. King Prawns and Lobsters anybody??

Marooned

Heavy rains hit Goa since morning. Guess some storm in indonesia. This is what i had to walk through while getting back to my car. And guess what my brand new shoes i bought in banglore got a nice sauna treatment. Sigh....

Storm Rising up on the horizon

Blogging on the move is real fun. I get to share life when i travel without getting bored about doing nothing. This is rocking as of now. Dont worry i will not miss out on the daily photo when i m back in Goa.

Getting back to Goa......

Its a mixed reaction from me when it comes to getting out of bangalore. Bitter about leaving the sweet old second home, leaving behind good pals, party places, good food but happy about getting back home, work and some more good frens.

Bangalore Banged by metro

For all those who have seen Bangalore city about 10 years back this would be a gruesome sight of the city being murdered. Well we need development but not at the cost of haphazard planning. I surely miss those old days in Bangalore when the city would invite you with open arms and one could have a vacation...

Off to Bangalore

An isolated carrier disbursing H20 in the arabian sea and gradually moving on us. Shot from the half completed approach road to the yet to exist Mashem Bridge. This will be regular sight for travellers on NH17 if the bridge comes up. An amazing place too be if you got nothing to do...now you know why was I found there..

Selling Fish @ Mashem in Goa

Fish is totally indispensible in Goa. We stopped by at the Mashem market to find some fish. It is quite amazing to listen to conversations happening and bargains falling apart when the village men both young and old try candy konkani on these fisherwomen.
